Packing a Smile with Pepperidge Farm Goldfish

Back to school will be here before we know it but right now we are trying to make the most of our summer time and making all the smile worthy moments that we can.

This school year my kids kids will be in 10th grade, 1st grade and Pre-K and until we have to get back into our school year routine we are enjoying all the lake, river and pool time we can. We’ve had lots of play dates, runs through the sprinkler, played on the slip n slide and of course tons of BBQ’d food.

One of my favorite summer time activities is watching the kids play in the sprinkler while I lay on a blanket reading a good book. There is just nothing better than listening to your kids giggle as they get hit with the cold water on their run through!

And one of the kid’s favorite things to do is any outdoor activity that involves snacking on Pepperidge Farm Goldfish® crackers.  Any of our activities we do have to involve snacks because these kids think they are hungry 24 hours a day.  So Goldfish® are our go-to snack because they love them and I feel good about the kids eating them.

Some things I love about Goldfish® crackers:

  • Always Baked with Real Cheese
  • No Artificial Flavors or Preservatives
  • Colors Sourced from Plants, such as annatto extracted from the reddish seeds of the Achiote Tree
  • Baked with Whole Grain Cheddar variety has 12 g of WG per serving
  • A snack you can feel good about serving your kids

Once we are back in school I see our afternoons going much the same way full of homework, after school play dates and Goldfish® snacks.

Want to leave a fun little note with your kiddos after school snack? Print these out or feel free to make your own. I know Tyler loves to find these notes, especially as he started learning to read it was so fun to watch him sound them out!

For many people, pets are like family. Travis got Jada when she was a puppy and I came into her life about a year and a half later. And while it drives me nuts when she eats toilet paper, or everything else in sight, I still would never want anything to happen to her. She is silly and we always laugh about the positions she sleeps in.

She is crazy and loves running around the back yard like a wild animal. When the sun is barely shining she will find the only sunny place in our back yard and lay in it.

Sweet Jada just turned 11 on Halloween and to be honest, she still isn’t slowing down much.  She is still as hyper as she was when she was 1! She loves to go for walks, chase unsuspecting joggers that are running on the sidewalk (on the other side of the fence) and chew on anything she can get her teeth in. Literally, she has eaten more shoes, toilet paper, and she even ate the siding off our old house! We can’t leave anything on the floor because she will chew on it. And with kids, that’s hard. They leave everything on the floor!

It took everything to get these pictures of her because she just doesn’t sit still!

When it is time to pick up food and treats for this girl, I head to Fred Meyer. I love that they have everything I need to pamper Jada right in one place.

I picked up Purina Beneful Dog Food because it has meat as it’s #1 ingredient and no added sugar. I also got some Beggin Strips. What dog doesn’t like a treat that smells and tastes like bacon?

Jada really needed a new dog food container. Her old one was small and the lid was broken so I decided to make her a new one. While I was out getting my Purina Beneful dog food I grabbed a holiday popcorn tin. My kids LOVE that popcorn and once it’s empty and cleaned out it is a perfect container to keep dog food in.

However, actually spray painting the container was a little more of a challenge. It has been pouring rain for the last couple of week and when I finally got a little break in the clouds I took the opportunity to spray paint.

When it was all done and dry and smelling a little less like spray paint I used my cricut and added Jada’s name to the top. Along with a “Dog Food” printable that you can find below!

Some of the reasons I choose Purina Beneful Dog Food:

  • Real Meat as the #1 ingredient
  • accents of real vegetables (spinach, peas and carrots)
  • 23 essential vitamins and minerals
  • includes antioxidant Vitamin E
  • 22 g of protein to help maintain strong muscles
  • Tender and crunchy bites that dogs love

Giving Jada Purina Beneful Dog Food makes me feel confident that she is getting the nutrition she needs for her adult life.

Here is a fun printable that you can print and cut out to put on your dog food container! Click the picture for the printable version!

Spread holiday love to your furry friends with the help of Purina! Now through the end of November, take advantage of great savings on your favorite Purina pet products available at Kroger with this link, while supplies last.

Tyler’s 6th Batman Birthday Party

Last week Tyler turned 6. I don’t know where the time goes but he is so big!

This year Tyler and Summer wanted separate birthday parties and because they have had joint parties for the last couple of years (farm party, carnival) I thought we’d go with it.

And since practically every little boys is obsessed with Batman, that is what he chose.

It all started with an invite I found online and attempted to make my own.

I found all sorts of cool ways to arrange balloon on Pinterest…. and then I ran out of time and thankfully my 14 year old son helped me put them up…. at least they’re up!

Everything had to be Yellow and Black and was EASY to put together.

We had lots of fun and this kid was so excited about his cupcake! He picked out the blue frosting because it was “so cool”

I wanted to make a light lunch/snacks and it all worked out great. It was the perfect amount and I think the kids enjoyed the treats!

Bugles = Cat Woman Claws

Sandwiches = Bat Wiches

Pigs in a Blankets = Robins Roll Ups

Boneless Wings = Bat Wings

Hawaiian Punch/7up = Joker Juice

I wanted to make masks and capes as well. I attempted to make these masks with my Cricut but I had some trouble with it cutting felt! That is a setting I have never tried before and I should have practiced before hand! I also made THESE CAPES that turned out great and the kids loved them!

Cutest little bat girl around!

I used poster board and attempted to make a Batman. Don’t judge! haha! I painted it up then I used my cricut to cut out little bats that the kids used to “Pin the bat on Batman”. Sorry for this terrible grainy picture! Tyler’s party day turned out to be a rainy mess of a day and I was glad that I had planned for it to be mostly inside!

Love all these little Bat kids! So grateful for friends taking time from their day to celebrate my Tyler turning 6!!

And I made this fun picture to put in a frame on the table! And it is a PRINTABLE! Click the picture to get the downloadable link!

Tyler had such an awesome 6th birthday!

Preparing for Kindergarten

Over the past couple of years I have been working on getting Tyler “kindergarten ready”. He did 2 years of Preschool/PreK and just finished up at the end of May and I am so grateful for all they worked on with him because it helped and lined up with all we do at home. During his first year of Preschool I made him a fun little “kindergarten book” that I have added to as he has progressed. And last Fall I started one for Summer, because hey! It’s never too early to start writing your name! Plus, she will be starting Preschool in the Fall and it’s time to get at it a bit more.

Kindergarten; preschool; learning; schoolSo today I wanted to share some of my favorite printables/worksheets to get your littles ready for Kindergarten.

First, the book I made looks like this. Just a run of the mill folder. At first I just used one of Zachary’s old school folders, but after I noticed the “scream mask face” that was drawn on it I decided Tyler needed his own!

Preschool folderAll you need is a folder that has the brads and page protectors. Then you can start printing out some relevant sheets to add into your page protectors. And make sure you grab some dry erase markers and your kiddo will be on their way to learning! I add in a few extra page protectors so that as I am looking for more sheets to print I already have a spot to put them.

Preschool NameTracing their name – I LOVE this! You can type in your kids name and it generates it on the paper for you. I do their first name in caps and with only the first letter capitalized. I also do their full name so they can practice that as well.

Preschool alpha shapeWe have a few different shape pages, upper case and lower case letters. And some that have both upper and lower mixed up.

Preschool numbersI like both of these number sheets and I have them in different spots in the book so they get more practice.

Preschool DaysDays of the week, months of the year and number in word form.

Preschool add sub
We also have been working on counting by twos, fives, tens, etc. And addition/Subtraction.

Worksheet Fun
is where I get the majority of my printables. They are awesome and have tons of different things. Plus, they have worksheets that would work for older kids too, like multiplication and division, etc.

preschool traceTrace the Line from My Teaching Station

Preschool Ty SumWe’ve also worked hard on learning site words. Tyler is having fun learning the sounds that the letters make and sounding out words on his own.

site words
There are so many great resources to get worksheets for your kids before they head off to Preschool or Kindergarten! Which I am grateful for since I will have a kiddo going to each of those this year! Plus a highschooler…. where did the time go?!?

Do you have a favorite site with great school resources? I would love for you to share it below!

Cleaning House – My Chore Chart (And a GIVEAWAY)

Disclosure: The Purex brand provided me with a sample of Purex Crystals Aromatherapy in exchange for a product review, however, all opinions are my own.

I know I can’t be the only one that at the end of the day, sometimes wonders “What did I do today?”

Most days consists of the same things as yesterday and the day before that- and sometimes my days run together. And when it comes to cleaning I’m sometimes asking myself when the last time the toilet got cleaned.

So last year I sat down and made a list of the things that needed to be done weekly, and what needed to be done daily, and what could be done monthly. I made myself a check list that looks like this:

This is printable, so feel free to click on it to print your own!

I’ve slipped it into a page protector and check mark the days I’m going to do those chores.

I like the idea of having a couple of things to do each day instead of trying to get everything done in one days time. I typically  do my “chores” first thing in the morning before the kids are up or else they have to wait until naptime. Trying to sweep with Summer around is like brushing your teeth with an Oreo in your mouth- And some things are strategically placed. I clean out the fridge on Tuesdays because Wednesday is garbage day and I don’t want anything gross hanging out in the garbage for too long.

On days where I wash bedding I get up and strip down all the beds first thing in the morning that way by nap time beds are put back together. (ideally)

Then I have daily chores. Several of these belong to Zachary and sometimes sweeping end up on this list, especially this time of year when the dog tracks in dirt like crazy. Then I’m sweeping twice per day.

One thing I do several times per week is laundry. With 5 people in the house dirty laundry is something I never run out of. And you guys know I’m all about some good smelling clothes.  Lately, I’ve been using Purex Crystals Aromatherapy to help eliminate laundry odors.  Purex Crystals never disappoint me and always leave a fresh laundry scent.

Splitting everything up makes me feel like I’m doing something productive each day and keeping my house clean. At the end of the day I’m no longer asking myself what I did today but instead giving myself a little pat on the back for the house being clean.

Now for a little GIVEAWAY! I’ve got 3 coupons to giveaway for a free bottle of Purex Crystals Aromatherapy to try it out for yourself —->
