Home made Play-doh!

I"m always looking for activities for Tyler to do. And this kid loves Play-doh.

As in, he plays with it every.single.day.

But now that Summer is into everything and wanting to do everything that he big brother is, she of course, wants to play with the play-doh too.

I know that the store bought stuff is non-toxic, but that doesn't mean I want it making it's way into the kids' mouth. So when I came across this recipe on Pinterest for home made play-doh I really wanted to give it a try.  Now don't get me wrong, I still don't want my kids eating it- but I wouldn't be as freaked out if they did.

This recipe is quick and easy and stores great in a Tupperware container. It kept great for about 4 months before I tossed it and made some new stuff. However, it will dry out in an instant if left out.

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 C salt
1 pkg. Kool-Aid Unsweetened Drink Mix
1 Tbsp. Cream of Tartar
1 C. boiling water
1 1/2 Tbsp. oil

Mix flour, salt, fool-aid and cream of tartar in a bowl.
Add boiling water and oil. Mix.
Take out of bowl and knead play-doh on very lightly floured counter.
Add more flour if needed ( I did use a small amount more because mine felt too sticky)

Not only is this so easy to make, but the color options are endless, and it smells really good!
I hope you'll give it a try!
